Emerging Technology

The article i read was about new substances to increase batter power and more energy efficient. Thousands of substances, at San Diego Wildcat Discovery Technologies, are being tested for a valuable energy source. Some of the substances that are now found and used help batteries work more reliably at a higher voltage. The future technologies are only going to get greater and better. What surprised me the most was that they are trying to make these high powered batteries more efficient, yet keep them small for certain operating conditions. Possibilities in the future for this are better smart phones, faster processing in mobile and other devices, and the batteries will be able to withstand higher voltages. I think that this is a great subject to study and learn more about. It's going to help out a lot of scientists and people in general who use cell phones and other devices. One thing in 2009 that is emerging today is the intelligent software assistant, and today, to most people that is Siri. Siri is a voice on the iPhone that you can ask questions and it will answer them for you by using its computer technology to research things in a matter of seconds.

        Theodore Roosevelt
In this PBS article about Theodore Roosevelt and his expedition to find the River of Doubt, it discusses how he got his team together for the job. This safari took him through Kenya, Uganda and many other African countries. His travels began on December 9, 1913, the height of the rainy season in that area. Roosevelt’s crew consisted of his 24- year old son Kermit, Colonel Rondon, George K. Cherrie, Lieutenant Joao Lyra, Dr. Cajazeira, and 16 highly skilled camaradas. The rapids in the river were very strong and actually took someone’s life when he was trying to save Kermit’s canoe. Monkey meat became a part of the men’s diet. Along with the lack of food, the crew went through many other troubles like fevers and getting painful insect bites. Roosevelt got a scrape on his leg from a boulder and had gotten a bad fever which caused him to a near death experience. He had told the rest of the people to go on without him, but they refused and stayed back with him till he was able to heal. On April 27, 1913, Theodore Roosevelt reached the end of the River of Doubt. They discovered over 2,000 species of birds and 500 mammals had been collected for research.

Online Safety

On October 16, 2012, a Milan Highschool student named Anthony, was arrested for giving threats about blowing up the school. He was posting things on facebook about blowing up the new part of the school and how he wants to walk away with the flames of the school behind him. Anthony was charged with using a computer to convey his bomb threats. He was thrown in jail for these threats and and couldn't get money for bail.
I do think that threats like these should be taken serious because there are some people out there that will try and go through with their threats. Anthony may not have even had anything to blow up the school, but other people in highschool will actually try and hurt someone or kill other students in the school. It's always better to be catious and stop the threats before someting bad actually does happen. I also do think that Anthony should be punished. It's nothing to joke about when someone wants to harm others around them. Situations like this could actually happen and it's not funny to post things like that even if he was joking. Since he was being serious than he deserves to get punished for it. A fair punishment for him would be time in jail and after that the court should make him go to therapy or maybe even anger management if that's the case.

Feed Readers

I liked Google Reader more than the Technorati. Google Reader had more options and was a lot easier to use to me. I liked the page layout better as well. Google Reader also makes it more simple to understand and use. Google Reader had better options in my opinion.
